Who we are

Nestled on the northern shores of Sylvan Lake in Birchcliff, Alberta, Sunnyside Christian Retreat Centre has been a place of spiritual renewal and community since its founding in 1937. Originally established through the kindness, faith, and generosity of dedicated families—some of whom remain connected to this day—Sunnyside quickly gained momentum and officially launched in 1938.

As part of the Alberta and Northwest Territories District of the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada, Sunnyside has remained steadfast in its mission: to advance the Kingdom of Heaven by providing a sacred space for worship, growth, and fellowship. Operating year-round, the retreat centre hosts a variety of camps and gatherings, including Kids Camp, Youth Camps, Senior Camp, Family Camp, and more.

For generations, Sunnyside has been a beacon of faith, shaped by those who came before us—a great cloud of witnesses whose vision and dedication laid the foundation for what we continue today. With hope and purpose, we move forward, building upon their legacy to inspire and equip future generations in their walk with Christ.
